Iranian FM, MPs discuss foreign policy issues
Tasnim News Agency Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his deputies held a joint meeting with the members of the Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, talking about a range of issues, including the latest developments in the region and the world.

During the meeting held in Tehran on Tuesday night, Zarif and the Foreign Ministrys Council of Deputies hosted the chairman and members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

The two sides exchanged views about a whole range of issues, including the Islamic Republics international standing, parliamentary ties with other countries and foreign trade.

The foreign ministry officials and the commission members also agreed to continue such consultations in the future.

Zarif and the MPs had previously held talks about the implementation process of the July 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015, reached a conclusion over the text of the JCPOA, which took effect on January 16, terminating all nuclear-related sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

According to a law that requires the Iranian administration to safeguard the nations achievements and nuclear rights, the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has been tasked with monitoring the proper implementation of the JCPOA, and is required to submit a report on the issue to the presiding board of the parliament every six months.
