Irans President: JCPOA survival hinges on other partys full commitment

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined that in order for the July 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), to be maintained, it is necessary that the other party fulfil all its obligations under the deal.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has lived up to all its obligations under the JCPOA and expects the other party to remain committed to its principles and fully implement its undertakings to ensures the JCPOAs durability, Rouhani said in a meeting with the European Union Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, on Saturday in Tehran.

The president further emphasized that the nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) can serve as a strong foundation and proper model for developing cooperation between Tehran and the EU and resolving international issues.

He further expressed the hope that Islamic Republic and the 28-nation bloc would be able to use the existing capacities to boost cooperation in line with the interests of both sides.

Mogherini, for her part, said the EU is committed to meeting its obligations under the JCPOA and willing to promote economic cooperation with Tehran.

Iran and the Group 5+1 on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of the comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16.

With the coming into force of the agreement, all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran were terminated.

However, Iranian officials have complained about the failure of the other side, especially the US, to fully implement the accord, as Iran still has problems in its banking transactions with other countries.
