Rouhani: Friendship between Shia, Sunni Muslims needed

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 8, IRNA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that the World of Islam today needs friendship and unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims.

President Rouhani, who was addressing the Iranians residing in Malaysia on Saturday, stressed that Shia and Sunni Muslims should remove illusions about each other.

‘We are not after Shiazation, and also we are not to impose our (Islamic) Revolution,’ Rouhani said.

Rouhani, who visited Malaysia at the second leg of his three-nation Southeast Asian tour, talked of Tehran-Kuala Lumpur relations, stressing that the two governments are determined to develop ties.

Iran produces high-quality products that Malaysia needs, the Iranian President noted.

Rouhani arrived in Vietnam on October 5 at the first leg of his Southeast Asian tour. After Vietnam, Rouhani visited Malaysia. He left Malaysia for Thailand today to start his third and last leg of Asian tour.
