Islamophobia in US ‘deliberately triggered’ by neocons: Scholar

The climate of anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States was “deliberately triggered” by neoconservatives after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks to launch an endless war on the enemies of Israel, according to an American scholar.

“It’s quite amazing the extent to which this kind of Islamophobic hysteria that was deliberately triggered by the 9/11 false flag operation and the many other false flag operations that proceeded and followed it,” said Kevin Barrett, an author and political commentator based in Madison, Wisconsin.

All of the false flag operations “have designed to launch an endless war on the enemies of Israel driven by the United States,” Barrett told Press TV on Friday.

“The United States wasted its blood and treasure, destroying those seven countries in five years in the Middle East,” he added.

The US is “continuing to wage warfare against the Islamic world on behalf of Israel for at least a century, that’s the new 100 year war, according to various US officials,” the scholar stated.

Hate crimes against Muslims have increased along with anti-Muslim rhetoric linked to the US presidential election campaign, according to a recent report by the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Karen Dabdoub, the executive director of the Cincinnati chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), said that her organization nationally sees spikes in anti-Muslim sentiment and Islamophobia during presidential election seasons.

The Independent reported on Thursday that an Arab Muslim man in the United States was thrown off a plane in April for saying the Islamic phrase of “inshallah”, which means “God willing” in Arabic.

Khairuldeen Makhzoomi, a 26-year-old Berkeley graduate, was removed from a Southwest Airlines flight at Los Angeles International Airport in April after another passenger overheard him speaking Arabic on his mobile phone.

On Wednesday, the Bay Area chapter of the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) filed a formal complaint with federal transportation officials demanding a full investigation of the incident.

In July, a Muslim American couple was removed from a Delta Airlines plane after a flight crew member complained to the pilot that she had become suspicious over their appearance.
