Economy minister in Washington

Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia left Tehran for Washington DC on Thursday to attend the World Banks annual meetings.

Accompanied by a number of officials of the Central Bank of Iran, the minister is expected to hold meetings with his counterparts from several countries, including those of the Middle East and North Africa region, IRNA reported.

According to the IMF website, the annual meetings of the boards of governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organizations and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development and aid effectiveness.

Seminars, regional briefings, press conferences and many other events focused on the global economy, international development and the worlds financial system are also held on the sidelines of the meetings.

This years events will take place in Washington DC on October 7-9.
