Kerry urges Russia, China, Pakistan, India, Iran to bring peace to Afghanistan

US Secretary of State John Kerry called for Russia, China, Pakistan, India and Iran to help Afghanistan overcome its problems, including the Taliban insurgency.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) Afghanistan's neighbors should play a more active role inthe region inorder tobring prosperity and peace tothe country, US Secretary ofState John Kerry said Wednesday.

"I urge Russia, China, Pakistan, India and Iran tothink aboutthe special role that they could play inthis region inorder tohelp make a major difference not only inthe long term economy and future and social structure ofAfghanistan butin reaching peach withthe Taliban," Kerry said atthe Brussels Conference onAfghanistan.

Afghanistan is ina state ofpolitical and social turmoil, withgovernment forces fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency, while the Daesh terror group, outlawed inRussia, has also expanded its activities both inthe country and inthe neighboring states.
