Russia, Iran reaffirm readiness to assist humanitarian efforts in Syria

Russia and Iran reaffirmed on Monday their readiness to cooperate with the Syrian government and humanitarian organizations in providing urgent relief to civilian population in war-torn Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the ministry, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed in phone talks with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari the situation in Syria with the focus on urgent humanitarian assistance to the Syrian population, especially in besieged city of Aleppo.

“The sides reaffirmed the readiness by Moscow and Tehran to actively cooperate in this area with the Syrian government, the Syrian Red Crescent, and the relevant UN bodies,” the ministry said in a statement.
