President Rouhani confers with Iraqi premier

New York, Sept 22, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani and Prime Minister of Iraq Haider al-Abadi discussed issues of mutual interests in a meeting here on Wednesday.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York where the Iranian President is to deliver a speech on coming days.

Since his arrival in New York on Tuesday, President Rouhani has held separate meetings with his counterparts and leaders from a number of the UNGA participating states, including those from the Group 5+1 member states.

Presently experts of the nuclear negotiating teams from Iran and the world sextet (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany) are exchanging views on issues of mutual interests.

Iran and the Group 5+1 signed a landmark nuclear deal in July 2015 known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which ended more than a decade of nuclear dispute between the two sides.
