London, Sept 16, IRNA -- Head of World Nuclear University Patricia Wieland while pointing to her meeting with Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi on Friday said that the university would welcome Iran�s decision to expand cooperation with the institute.


In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Ms. Wieland said that her meeting with Dr. Salehi went well and was constructive.

�Dr. Salehi said he would like to send and make contacts with the university and Iran and to work closely together. Therefore, we are looking to organize some courses and that Iran send students to our courses abroad,' she added.

Wieland went to say that her university is keen to establish communication with Iran for the future.

�It is a very good sign that Iran would like to peruse its nuclear education in a university that is very well known,' the academician said.

She also said that in the past things were progressing very well, but our cooperation with Iran stopped, because there were changes and now it is clear that they are ready to join again and this openness is very important for exchange of information.

Asked about the nature of the courses, Wieland said, 'These courses are for preparing nuclear professionals and those countries developing their nuclear capacity.�

She said that in the last academic year they had 71 participants from 31 countries worldwide.

Salehi arrived in London from Brussels on Thursday to attend the annual meeting of the World Nuclear Association.

He also met Director general of world nuclear association Agneta Rising, Head of World nuclear association university Patricia Wieland and Shah Nawaz Ahmad Senior advisor of Asia, India and Middle East on the sidelines of this conference.

The meeting was held behind the closed doors, however, Salehi then told IRNA that the meeting was successful and that Iran�s proposals were verbally agreed.
