Tehran, Sept 14, IRNA – Senior Iranian official blasted Bahrain’s government for trying that country’s senior Shia cleric Sheikh Naeem Qassim.
“Sheikh Issa Qassim is a great religious scholar and belongs to all Muslims and Muslim world,” said Special Advisor to parliament speaker for international affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
He pointed to the hearing of Sheikh Issa and the negligence of the Bahraini government towards the sentiments of Muslims, and said, “Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassim does not merely belong to the people of Bahrain.
“A sum of 210 of Iranian lawmakers have recently warned against the need for halting the insults by Al Khalifa government to religious sanctities and the need for paying attention to the dignity and security of Sheikh Issa Qassim,” Amir-Abdollahian added.
He said that Iran understands the conditions of Al Khalifa that is under pressure and occupation of that country by Saudi Arabia, adding, “The Bahraini government should be careful as not to be deceived by Saudi Arabia in this respect more than ever and clearly understand the negative consequences of not stopping the trial of Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassim.”
