Rio, Sept 10, IRNA Iran's Paralympics athlete Ali Reza Qaleh Nasseri won silver medal in discus throw of track and field competitions.


Qaleh Nasseri ranked right after Paralympics athlete from Brazil who won gold medal while Cuban athlete won bronze medal.

The four most prominent throwing for distance sports are in track and field: shot put, discus, javelin, and the hammer throw.

Throwing sports have a long history. Modern track and field comes from a lineage of activities that dates to the Ancient Olympic Games.

The Iranian squad left Iran last Thursday to take part in the Rio 2016 Paralympics Games.

Iran's squad in Rio Paralympics Games consists of 111 athletes comprising 23 women and 88 men.

The 2016 Summer Paralympics the fifteenth Summer Paralympics Games are major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities governed by the International Paralympics Committee, being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016.

Over 4,500 athletes from 175 countries are attending the international event.
