Iranian Parliament to finalize biannual report on JCPOA in coming weeks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Chairman of the Iranian parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said the commission will finalize a six-month report on the process of implementing the July 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers (known as the JCPOA) in coming weeks.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Alaeddin Boroujerdi pointed to efforts made to prepare the report on the process of implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) over the past six months and said the members of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission are drafting the report.

As part of the efforts, the commission members have recently paid a visit to the countrys nuclear sites to learn about implementation of Irans JCPOA commitments, he noted.

Boroujerdi went on to say that the report will be finalized in coming weeks and read out in a session of the parliament later.

Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015, reached a conclusion over the text of the JCPOA, which took effect on January 16, terminating all nuclear-related sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

According to a law that requires the Iranian administration to safeguard the nations achievements and nuclear rights, the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has been tasked with monitoring the proper implementation of the JCPOA, and is required to submit a report on the issue to the presiding board of the parliament every six months.

Months after coming into force of the JCPOA, some Iranian officials still complain about the other sides failure to fully implement the accord.
