Iraqi Kurdistan region official warns against threatening Iran's security

Erbil, Aug 23, IRNA Any measures against Iran's security will be responded forcefully, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region of Iraq Nechirvan Barzani was quoted as saying on Monday.


Abdullah Saleh General Manager of the Iran and Kurdistan region of Iraq relations told the Islamic Republic News Agency that Nechirvan Barzani in a meeting with the region's security committee said Iraq Kurdistan region will not allow any group, party or person to act against Iran's security and will confront with utmost force with any move in this concern.

In the meantime, Saleh confirmed that President Masoud Barzani is due to visit Iran in the next ten to 15 days.

Concerning the visit by President Barzani to Tehran, Nechirvan was quoted by Saleh as saying that his visit is at the invitation of senior Iranian officials and he is expected to meet President Hassan Rouhani and other senior officials of Iran and discuss with them issues of mutual interests.

Saleh said that the issue of security of borders with Iran is top on agenda.

For more coordination with other Kurdish political groups, the next meeting of politburos of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) will discuss and closely review the issue, he said.
