Official lashes out at Jury's 'misjudgment' in Olympics weightlifting contest

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 17, IRNA Head of Iran Weightlifting Federation Ali Moradi said that the Jury's 'unjust' decision against Iranian weightlifter Behdad Salimi Kordasiabi will certainly be recoded in the history.

Referring to the jury's decision to overturn the referees' green light to Salimi's lift, Moradi said, 'It was cruelty and they didn't want Iran to win the medal.'

He added it was so strange that Salimi's lift was approved by 3 referees but rejected by the jury.

He reiterated that the President of International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Tams Ajn, in response to his complaint, said that the jury's misjudgment would be recorded in the history.

On the presence of Brazilian police in the competition venue, he noted that security situation and the presence of police was not good at all.

Salimi lifted 216 kilograms in snatch but his attempts were not accepted by the jury in the clean and jerk.

During the clean and jerk stage, Salimi lifted 245 kilograms but received two red lights from the judges. At the second attempt, he lifted 245 kilograms once more and despite getting approval from the three judges, the jury committee did not accept the result.
