Tehran, Aug 16, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Tuesday that Tehran sought clarity from the Kuwaiti government about arrest of Iranian nationals in Kuwait.
In response to the question posed by reporters why Iranian nationals were arrested near Kuwaiti sea-shore, he said that they were allegedly going to Kuwait illegally as workers but they were arrested by the Kuwaiti coastguard.
Immediately after the arrest, Iran’s Embassy in Kuwait was assigned to seek consular access to the Iranian nationals and examine the situation, he said.
Iran’s chargé d’affaires to Kuwait made coordination with Kuwaiti officials and visited the arrested Iranian nationals, he said.
Qassemi said that representative of the Iranian Embassy attended the hospital and visited the injured Iranian national, adding that he is in good health.
He said that those under arrest in Kuwait will enjoy consular services and the counsel rights.
