Zarif arrives in Ankara

Ankara, August 12, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif arrived in Ankara on Friday for talks with the Turkish officials.

Zarif is the first Iranian top-ranking official to visit Turkey after the failed July 15 coup.

Iran was the first country to condemn the coup and side the Turkish government and nation.

While in Turkey, Zarif is to meet his counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and then the two ministers will brief a joint press conference on outcome of their talks.

He is also scheduled to meet Turkish President Recep Teyyip Erdogan.

Zarif's Ankara visit follows historical meeting of Turkish and Russian presidents in Saint Petersburg, which has had wide-scale reflection in the news and diplomatic circles in Ankara.
