Official deplores misconduct of certain European embassies in Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) An official at Irans Foreign Ministry deplored staff misconduct at the embassies of some European countries in Tehran and the lengthy process of issuing visa for Iranian applicants, saying such indecent behavior has been raised in consular talks.

The official underlined on Wednesday that the Foreign Ministry is seriously pursuing the cases of misbehavior by some consular staffers of certain European embassies in diplomatic negotiations with their governments.

He also complained that since a couple of years ago, some European embassies in Tehran have used unconventional and unclear methods to process visa applications from Iranians.

Denouncing extra fees for the paperwork or insulting behavior by some of the consular employees, the official added that although diplomatic efforts are underway to avert such misconduct, Iranian nationals had better avoid going to the embassies with a record of insulting behavior, except for necessary cases.

It is not necessary to make leisure trips to those countries, which will encourage the staffers of those governments to continue their improper behavior, he went on to say.
