Photos: Jajim weaving

Iranian nomadic women weave a simple kind of carpet which is softer and lighter than Kilim, called Jajim in the northern province of Golestan.
Jajim is a colorful kilim woven in the rural areas and nomadic communities of Iran. Jajim weaving requires a lot of patience and care. Like kilim, it is woven on horizontal looms, which are generally placed in alleys and passageways. The pattern springs from the weaver’s imagination.
