Iran’s urban population hits 60m

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhundi said Iran’s urban population has risen from 6 to 60 million in 60 years.

Speaking in a meeting with urban development officials, Akhundi called for new strategies in urban plannings given the explosion in population.

He also urged upgrade in engineering abilities in order to help Iran both implement its development plans and perform its regional role.
