Azerbaijani President he expected Russian and Iranian leaders' talks to bring impetus to the North�South Transport Corridor construction.

BAKU (Sputnik)�� Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on�Saturday he expected "historic steps" during�talks on�the North�South Transport Corridor with�Russian and Iranian leaders at�the upcoming summit in�Baku.

"Today, we signed a memorandum on�acceleration of�the North�South project realization with�my Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

The Azerbaijani side wants to�further participate in�the project's financing. The project will be discussed at�the trilateral summit tomorrow. I am sure that historic steps will be taken for�the realization of�this project," Aliyev was quoted as�saying by�APA news agency.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on�Friday that the upcoming talks in�Baku would focus on�the International North�South Transport Corridor, a project on�cargo transportation that will link northern Europe and southeastern Asia.

The leaders are also expected to�discuss cooperation in�energy, tourism, healthcare and education.
