Iran Armed Forces at height of powers: Top General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The new chancellor of Iran’s Supreme National Defense University said the country’s armed forces enjoy such high level of military preparedness that is even the envy of enemies.

Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, the incoming president of the high-profile military university, said on Thursday that Iranian armed forces have reached such high level of defensive power that could challenge not only minor enemies, but also the world’s biggest military powers.

“In two areas of defense and security, Iran is fully self-reliant and is in the most stable conditions,” he said in an introduction ceremony in Tehran.

The top general, who has the experience of serving in sensitive military posts, also called for procedures to protect the interests of Muslims amid the chaotic situation in the contemporary world which is fraught with “modern ignorance, cruelty and suppression of the poor”, particularly of Muslims.

Back in April, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei praised the Iranian Armed Forces for employing a combination of military effectiveness and spiritual motivations, urging an incessant push to strengthen those capabilities.

The only armed forces in the world that have spiritual motives as well as effective capabilities, and act with political independence, are the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Leader said.

The Iranian Armed Forces belong not to a specific individual or faction, but to the nation and country, protecting the national security, Ayatollah Khamenei added.
