Iran wants probe into terrorist sponsors' money-laundering moves

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi called on the different countries and international bodies to help trace money-laundering moves made in support of the terrorist groups financially.

"The Takfiri and Wahhabi groups are supported through money-laundering and we believe that we can prevent these money-laundering moves," Takht Ravanchi said on Tuesday.

He underlined the necessity for cutting off the financial and logistic support for the terrorist groups in the region by certain countries, and said even the Europeans are now feeling concerned and insecure by the developments in the region.

"Fortunately, given the consultations, the Europeans' thoughts and plans with regard to the regional developments have become more transparent; although we have not yet reached the ideal situation," Takht Ravanchi said.

In relevant remarks in December, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned of the growing danger of terrorism against all the world states, and called for international investigations into the origin of the terrorist groups' financial sources and their financiers.

"Today, the terrorist groups, including the al-Qaeda and the ISIL, are dreaming of control over the region and seek to turn this region into their realm of domination, which is a danger to the world, and everyone should try and cooperate to decrease the power of these terrorist groups," Rouhani said in a meeting with Speaker of the French Senate Gerard Larcher in Tehran.

He described oil and drug trafficking as two main sources of the terrorists' revenues, and said all countries should cooperate to constrain the financial resources of these groups and finally cut them off.

"Unfortunately, today, certain states support the terrorist groups through supplying facilities and weapons and of course, identification of the terrorist groups' supporters is not difficult," Rouhani added.

Stressing that if all countries grow united against the terrorist groups, victory will be imminent, he said, "We shouldnt allow certain states to make an instrumental use of the terrorist groups in pursuit of their objectives."
