Iran to discuss new oil, gas contracts with Russian partners soon

Co-chair of the Russia-Iran joint economic commission and Iranian Communications Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said that Tehran welcomes close cooperation with oil companies from Russia.





MOSCOW (Sputnik) Iran plans todiscuss new oil and gas contracts withRussian companies inthe nearfuture, co-chair ofthe Russia-Iran joint economic commission and Iranian Communications Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said Friday.

Earlier it was announced that Iran would prepare new oil investment contract forthe international oil and gas companies byJuly 2016.

"The stages ofwork [on the Iranian oil investment contract] are complete. In the nearfuture, we will talk tothe Russian counterparts We welcome close cooperation withoil companies fromRussia. Given the scale ofour relationship, establishing a working group onenergy could be very effective," Vaezi told reporters aftera meeting withthe Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, who also co-chairs the commission.
