Shamkhani: Israeli bullying no longer works

Beirut, July 20, IRNA – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Wednesday that the Israeli bullying no longer works in the Middle East.
Shamkhani made the remarks in an interviwew with Lebanon’s Al-Ahed news outlet.

The 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran ignited the era of Islamic awakening in a way that the oppressed nations in the region mainly Palestine and Lebanon opted to take it as model in light of aspirations of late Imam Khomeini to undermine the Israeli bullying in the Middle East, Shamkhani said.

Shamkhani highlighted Iran’s stance toward the regional developments including the international campaign against terrorism in Syria, Iraq, military coup in Turkey and Saudi aggression on the sovereign state of Yemen.

The Islamic resistance in Lebanon was the first Islamic and Arab movement inflicted major blow on the Zionists in the year 2000 and in the course of 33- day Israeli aggression on Lebanon in 2006, he said.

Lebanese Hezbollah has played significant role to bring under control the terrorist groups in Syria as well as maintaining the security of Lebanon, Shamkhani said.

Hezbollah influence among people from all walks of life, Islamic and Arab world irritated the Zionist regime, he said.

On Syrian developments, he said the fate of Syrian people is in their own hands and any option to restore law and order except for the political means are doomed to failure.

He said that the conspiracy to weaken the Syrian government is a Zionist-US plot aiming to abolish the Resistance movevement to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Regretfully, a number of regional governments under pretext of support for the Syrian nation are now providing Daesh terrorist group with their financial assistance and arms supplies, he said.

He expressed deep concern about dividing the terrorists to ‘good and bad’, saying that such an approach gave momentum to terrorism.

Shamkhani deplored the fact that terrorism jeopardized security of the European and the neighboring states.
