No specific negotiations with US on Syria: Iran senior official

Tehran, July 13, IRNA A senior member of Iran's nuclear negotiating team said on Wednesday that Iran has not held a specific negotiation with the US on Syria so far.

Head of the experts of the nuclear negotiating team Hamid Baeedinejad made the remarks at a press briefing.

'Tehran has not made any decision to negotiate with Washington on Syria.'

'Our mission was completely focused on nuclear issue and the landmark deal of July 14, 2015, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is about the nuclear issue,' he added.

Commenting on the task of the supervisory board on JCPOA, he said that the body is not expected to enter into the nuclear negations and sanctions issues directly.

He made clear that the supervisory board of JCPOA is empowered to make critical decisions and its members are sensitive to any case of breach of the landmark nuclear deal by the other party.

Iran is critical of the way Washington deals with JCPOA and Foreign Minister Mohammad Zavad Zarif protested to US Secretary of State John Kerry over procrastination of the US Department of Treasury to authorize the US and EU banks to do business with Iran.
