Ban comments on Iran's missile tests same old greed: Velayati

Tehran, July 12, IRNA - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's comments against Iran missile tests are indicative of a greed for imposing excessive demands on Iran, President of the Center for Strategic Research Ali Akbar Velayati says.

In his recent comments, Ban has said Iran's missile program is not consistent with the provisions of the UN resolutions and the nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

Comments by the UN Secretary General about Iran's missile tests and their contradiction to the very spirit of the nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA, are indicative of the same old greed, Velayati said in an interview with IRIB News Agency on Monday.

The member of the JCPOA implementation board also criticized US officials for illegal seizure of Iranian assets and trying to limit selling airplanes to Iran and said that even if the present US government remains committed to its obligations we are still concerned about the future.

He said that the other member of G5+1 group of countries should not stay silent towards US sabotage of nuclear deal.

Countries like Germany and France as members of G5+1 during the nuclear talks with Iran, should continue their cooperation with Iran and US has no right to prevent them, the official added.

He said that Irans right for peaceful use of nuclear energy has been recognized by the world and the UN and this is a big achievement for Islamic Republic.

Now, everybody, including those who used to be optimistic about the US, has come to realize that Washington is against the Islamic Republic as a country which supports Islamic nations and as a country which is against the expansionist nature of arrogant powers and the Zionist regime.
