TEHRAN, Jul. 11 (MNA) � Iran�s FM spokesman dismissed NATO�s voiced concern over Iran�s missile program in its Warsaw Summit communiqu� as 'undue' and a 'repetition of unfounded claims'.


Iran�s Foreing Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi went on to add, �as stated numerous times, Iran�s missile capabilities are strictly within the framework of developing a legitimate defense program and have by no means designed for carrying nuclear warheads.�

�Iran�s missile program not only is completely unrelated to the JCPOA and nuclear negotiations, but also, as stressed time and time again, is not inconsistent with Security Council resolution�2231,� he said.

Members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) held a summit in Warsaw on 8-9 July 2016, during which they adopted a more aggressive approach against Russia. The communiqu� also mentioned �serious concern� over the development of Iran�s missile program, calling it �inconsistent with UNSCR 2231�, and using it as a pretext to take�command of a US-built missile shield in Europe.

Ghasemi has recently remarked that Iran will continue in full force its missile program based on the doctrine of defense and national security calculations, stressing that raising such baseless claims by the West will have no impact on the country's legitimate missile program.
