Syrian army squeezes militants in contested Aleppo

Alwaght- The fighting for Syria's northern city of Aleppo has entered a very sensitive stage. The Resistance forces which earlier in January succeeded in encircling the terrorist groups in the western parts of Aleppo yesterday managed to cut the only supply line of the terrorists to bring under their full encirclement the eastern areas of the city.

The Syrian forces, backed by their allies, managed on Friday to reach some meters away from the only connecting road of the terrorists in northern Aleppo. Known as Castillo, the road is the only supply line from Turkey to the terrorists holding ground inside Aleppos north and east. Cutting off this major route would mean bringing under encirclement northern and eastern regions of Aleppo from almost all directions.

The Syrian army launched an operation on June 25 to cut this major access road, and soon by inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists managed to recapture Al-Mallah Farms region in Aleppo. The region is comprised of three middle, northern and southern farms, all connected to each other, forming a significantly strategic region in Aleppos north.

Following the breakthrough, the Syrian army's and the Lebanese Hezbollah's forces managed to cut another crucial supply line of the terrorists that ends in Aleppo using their dominant firepower.

The BBC has reported, quoting sources of the anti-Syrian government militants, that progress of Syrian forces would mean that nobody could enter or move out of the eastern part of Aleppo.

Aleppo was recognized as the largest city of Syria prior to the crisis that sparked in 2011. It holds landmark and strategic significance, and it is for this very reason that battle for Aleppo is known as the battle of the battles.

The allied forces earlier had managed to fully surround the militants in western Aleppo in early February by breaking the siege of the strategic towns of Nubul and Al-Zahra.

Russian aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea

Amid the fresh developments in Syria, the White House has announced that no agreement was reached between the US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about the way of coordination and cooperation for fighting the terrorist groups in Syria. Earlier the Wall Street Journal had quoted an informed official as saying that the Pentagon had made some suggestions to the Russian army on Syria. According to the American official, the US army promised that should the Syrian aircrafts were grounded and refrained from raiding the Washington-backed Syrian opposition groups on the ground, the US would provide the Russian air force with battlefield data for carrying out precise airstrikes on the terrorists an issue the Russians declined to deny.

At the same time, the Russian media reported of deploying the only Russian aircraft carrier to the Mediterranean Sea. The state-run Russian news agency TASS has reported that the carrier would be sent to the Mediterranean Sea to take part in anti-terror air raids between October and January.

Fox News described the Russian deployment as a direct reaction to Washingtons moves in Syria.
