Rouhani: Iran continues siding Iraqi govt., nation

Tehran, July 6, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday said Tehran will remain beside the Iraqi government and nation, welcoming expansion of relations with Iraq in all domains.

In a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minster Heidar al-Ebadi to congratulate him on advent of Eid Al-Fitr (feast of fast breaking), President Rouhani said consolidation of Iran-Iraq relations will benefit both Iranian and Iraqi as well as regional nations.

He said victory of Iraqi government and nation over terrorists is of high significance for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He underlined that terrorism is a global danger, voicing deep sorrow over the killing of a large number of Iraqis in recent terrorist attacks.

He noted, Undoubtedly, Iraqi government and nation will gain victory through their resistance against terrorism, while defusing the ethnic and religious plot orchestrated by certain powers.

Iraqi Prime Minister in turn congratulated Rouhani on Eid al-Fitr and said, We want expansion of cooperation with Tehran in all fields and regard prospect of the relations as very clear and promising.

Al-Ebadi said the united and cohesive Iraqi nation will not stop efforts until full annihilation of terrorism in their country. The terrorism is part of the Takfiri movement which promotes unreal Islam and unfortunately certain people in the region support it.

He thanked Iran for its support and said all regional countries should get united to uproot terrorism.
