Iran ranks 12th in dentistry worldwide: SCImago Journal Rank

TEHRAN — Iran was ranked 12th worldwide in the field of dentistry in 2015, according to SCImago Journal and Country Rank database.

With 305 documents, Iran overtook Switzerland and Canada and ranked next to Spain and South Korea, Tasnim news agency quoted secretary for Health Ministry’s dental hygiene council Sa’eed Asgari as saying.

The U.S., Brazil, England, and India are the four countries at the top of the table with more than 1,000 documents, he added.

“Though Iran has secured 16th position for two years in a row in 2014 and 2015 regarding its overall performance in all subject areas worldwide it has made a significant improvement in dentistry over the same period,” Asgari highlighted.

Fortunately Iran is holding the top position in the Middle East in all subject areas for two consecutive years with a slight difference in the number of documents from Turkey, he said, adding, “But in medicine and dentistry Turkey has bested us.”

“In these two subject areas, Turkey has published a considerable number of documents compared to Iran and it’s essential for us to try to get to the first position in medicine and dentistry in the region as well,” he noted.
