Zarif to embark on third European tour with Paris, the first leg

Tehran, June 19, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will embark on his third round of European tour with Paris, the first leg, on Tuesday.

He will pay visit to France and the Netherlands and is to discuss with senior officials of the two countries about bilateral and regional developments and explaining Iran's atmosphere in post-JCPOA era.

Consultations and reciprocal visits of European officials with Iran's senior officials following the nuclear deal created a major movement in diplomacy and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in her visit to Iran in May, was accompanied by seven commissioners, a rare move in history of the European Union.

Meanwhile, most of foreign ministers of the European countries visited Tehran in the aftermath of the nuclear deal struck in November 2014.

Now, Iranian diplomatic efforts have focused on removal of the obstacles in the way of Iranian banking and financial interactions with the outside world.

Iran and EU, as two main economic partners, in absence of economic and financial interactions will face with a great deal of losses, so removal of the barriers is on agenda of both sides.

During his two European tours, Zarif held a wide range of discussions with senior officials of Poland, Sweden, Latvia, Finland, Norway and Germany and the trend will go on with the third tour from Paris, the first leg of the tour taking him to Amsterdam.

Meanwhile, after the European tour, he is due to visit Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting.

Iran currently has observer status in the SCO and it is expected that Iranian full membership will be put on SCO agenda.

The sanctions on Iran over the nuclear dispute with Washington was one of main obstacles in the way of full membership in the SCO.
India and Pakistan were accepted as members of the SCO last year.
