Iran's science, technology on fast track: Report

Tehran, June 15, IRNA Scientific and technological development in Iran is on the fast track, a new report by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology suggests.


Around 800 technological products were developed in Iran's technological parks and scientific centers over the past year (Iranian calendar ended March 19), read the report by the ministry's department of research and technology released on Wednesday.

More than 750 concepts from Iranian universities were turned into products, with 600 of them turning into consumer products, read the report further.

According to the report, 15 memoranda of understanding were also signed between universities and the industry sector, in line with efforts by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology to promote the engagement between the academic and industrial centers.

More than 200 hundred Iranian scientists living in the country, were included in the list of the most influential scientists of the world, suggested the report.

Too, the report says, Iranians published 1.9 percent of the world's scholarly articles. This is while, Iran's population establishes only one per cent of the total global population.

The report also revealed that 14 Iranian universities are included in the Leiden ranking list, while eight others are in the US News best world universities list.
