Fars province exported $40m handicrafts last year

Shiraz, June 10, IRNA An official in Fars governorate general for coordination economic affairs and resources development Yadollah Rahmani said that according to official statistics of Custom House office, the province has exported 40 million dollars handicrafts and hand woven carpet past year (1394).


Rahmani said that tourism and handicrafts are two inseparable items, which expansion and development of each of them has noticeable affect on the other side, so promotion of them should take place simultaneously.

One of the ways to promote handicrafts and tourism in the province is to make them knowledgebased sector, so to make them compatible in domestic and foreign markets.

He added that center to promote tourism and handicrafts will be opened in Fars Province Science and Technology Park soon.

Fars province Director General for Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism organization Mosseib Amiri said that handicrafts have unique capacity in economic sector, which could be an important way to fulfill resistance economy and creation of jobs and employment.

He said currently 120 fields in handicrafts and more than 200,000 artists are active in this sector in Fars province.

A memorandum of cooperation was signed in this gathering between Hotel Society and Fars CHHTO to create live workshop and exhibition in four and five star hotels in the province.
