Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province, June 12, IRNA Some 1,800 Elymais coins were unearthed in Chegarman region of Andica city, northeast of Khuzestan province, Director for 'Ayapir Research Base' Ayyoub Soltani said on Sunday.
He told IRNA that during operation for gas pipeline installation in village of Chegarman a backhoe hit an ancient structure, which led to finding this amount of coins.
Soltani said that following incident, drilling operation ceased in the region.
The coins made by copper and lead belongs to Elymais local government in northeast of Khuzestan province during Parthian Empire (247BCE- 224CE).
