TEHRAN (Tasnim) A prominent Syrian expert in strategic affairs said recent talks held by the Iranian, Russian and Syrian defense ministers in Tehran are a prelude to coordination among the three countries at all levels.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Salim Harba said the recent meeting between Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and his Russian and Syrian counterparts, Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoygu and Fahd Jassem al-Freij was a serious negotiation, which indicated the strategic stability of the three allies at military levels.

Secondly, the meeting demonstrated the insistence of Russia, Iran and Syria on continuing to fight against terrorism and prepare the grounds for the political process, he noted.

The Syrian analyst further emphasized that the talks in Tehran will lead to new tactics and coordination among the three countries forces at all levels in coming days.

Iran and Russia, known as the main allies of Syria, have been looking for a solution to a crisis that has plagued the Arab country for more than five years.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists, including the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group, currently controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.

The terrorist group claims as an independent state the territory of Iraq and Syria, with implied future claims intended over more of the Levant, including Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey.

According to a new report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the countrys pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
