Improvement of economic and political cooperation between Russia and Iran requires developing scientific ties between the two countries, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei said Monday.





MOSCOW (Sputnik) Russia and Iran need intellectual centers ofscientific thought tomatch currently existing political thought centers, he added, noting that these must be more active inplanning the direction ofregional cooperation betweenthe two countries.
"Bilateral relations betweenRussia and Iran are developing inmultiple directions. And today, the scientific and philosophical basis forRussian-Iranian relations must be developed formore successful cooperation inthe areas ofeconomy, politics, security and regional cooperation. This can be a good supporting pillar forour relations," Sanaei said atan international conference atthe Institute ofPhilosophy, Russian Academy ofSciences.




"We are cooperating invarious areas withthe Institute ofPhilosophy, and the cooperation is developing successfully. We hope that this exchange ofideas betweenthe Russian and Iranian philosophers will continue. Direct ties and joint projects must be developed, this corresponds tothe current demands," the ambassador, who is a doctor ofphilosophy, said.

Monday's interfaith conference, dedicated tothe ideas ofIran's Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, took place just days afterthe 27th anniversary ofhis death.
