Riyadh asks for Irans help to resolve Yemen crisis

Tehran, June 2, The Iran Project Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs has announced that Riyadh sent an intermediary to Tehran to resolve Yemen crisis.

In an interview with the Lebanese al-Mayadeen television channel on Thursday, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced that despite having severing diplomatic relations with Iran, Saudi sent an intermediary to Tehran and ask the country to help resolve the crisis in Yemen.

Amir-Abdollahian said earlier in a meeting with Director General of Moroccos Maghreb Arab Press (MAP) Khalil Al-Hashem Al-Idrisi that Iran encouraged political solutions to regional crises and stressed critical situations should be settled only by regional people.

He criticized Saudi Arabia for its decision of cutting ties with Iran and said despite Saudi actions, Iran supported resolution of Yemen crisis and accepted Saudi demand for Irans help in this regard.

The official expressed the hope that ties with Saudi Arabia will resume its normal conditions, sayingdialogue will help remove certain misunderstandings between the two countries.

Yemen has been under military attacks by Saudi Arabia since late March last year in a bid toundermine the Ansarullah movement and bring fugitive former president, Abd Rabbu Mansur Hadiback to power.
