Iranian petroleum minister to participate in Vienna OPEC meeting

The Iranian oil and gas minister will participate in the OPEC meeting, a diplomatic source told Sputnik.





VIENNA (Sputnik) Iranian delegation, led byPetroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh, will take part inthe upcoming meeting ofthe Organization ofthe Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) inVienna, a source inthe permanent mission ofIran inVienna told Sputnik Monday.
"The delegation led byBijan Zangeneh, the Iranian Oil and Gas Minister, is arriving toVienna onWednesday forOPEC meeting. OPEC Governor Hossein Kazempour Ardebilli and high ranking officials fromNational Iranian Oil Company will participate atthe meeting," the source said.


On June 2, OPEC members are expected todiscuss freezing oil output followingthe Doha meeting inApril, when OPEC and major non-OPEC oil producers failed toagree onfreezing oil output atJanuary levels toshore upprices. Saudi Arabia backed outof a deal, insisting that Iran, which has been boosting oil production afteryears ofinternational sanctions, should be part ofany production cuts.
