Iran to lodge indictment against US to restore dlrs 2 billion assets

Tehran, May 29, IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday that Iran will lodge indictment against United States to restore dlrs two billion Iranian assets seized by the US.

He said that the parliament required the government to take legal action against the United States to restore Iranian dlrs two billion frozen assets in the US and that the legal advisors recommended the government to take legal action with the international justice system.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif strongly protested to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon over the United States violation of Immunity of the Iranian Government by seizure of the Iranian assets in the US bank and appealed to the good offices of the Secretary-General to retake Iranian assets from the US.

On latest negotiations to sell heavy water, Araqchi said that Iran as per the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action has undertaken to sell its extra heavy water to world markets.

He said that the business indicated that the international community recognized Iranian capability to produce heavy water.

The US has demanded 32 tons heavy water from Iran and Russia demanded the same amount, he said adding that according to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the business with the US is currently a fait accompli.

He made clear that the US must pay the bill of the heavy water in advance to AEOI and then the heavy water will be shipped.

He said that the requirement to pay the bill in advance is a precautionary measure to avoid the US hostile action.

Other countries demanding heavy water can place order to Iran and the AEOI will hold negotiations with them if necessary, he said.
