US no longer to pursue efforts to reduce Irans sales of crude oil

Obama said that the United States is no longer seeking to reduce Irans export of oil after reaching a nuclear agreement with Tehran, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The United States is no longer seeking toreduce Irans export ofoil afterreaching a nuclear agreement withTehran, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction, President Barack Obama said ina memorandum onThursday.

"Consistent withUS commitments specified inthe Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction (JCPOA), the United States is no longer pursuing efforts toreduce Iran's sales ofcrude oil," Obama stated.

The US president noted that the United States has sufficient oil supplies fromother countries, which could allow Washington tosignificantly reduce petroleum import fromIran.

In July, Iran and the P5+1 group ofcountries, including the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom plus Germany, signed the JCPOA toensure the peaceful nature ofTehrans nuclear program inexchange forsanctions relief.
