No military solution to Syria crisis: Jaberi Ansari

Tehran, May 14, IRNA -Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari insisted on a political solution to the crisis in Syria on Saturday, saying there is no military solution to the crisis in the country.

'Iran has repeatedly said that there is no military solution to the crisis in Syria and it is going to be resolved through political means,' Jaberi Ansari said at a ceremony held to commemorate martyrdom of Hezbollah's top military commander in Syria, Mustafa Amine Badreddine.

'From the outset Iran has insisted on finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria,' he said, adding that 'referring to a public referendum is going to end the crisis in the country.'

The official said that foreign interventions and deployment of forces by some countries in Syria are against the interests of its people.

On Iran's involvement in Syria the Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Tehran will continue its advisory assistance as demanded by the Syrian government.

Jaberi Ansari extended his condolences to the family of the top Hezbollah commander and the Lebanese people saying that those who claim to be Islamists, should fight the real enemy which is the Zionist regime.

Israel is the only winner of bloodshed in Syria, he said.
