TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani blasted the West for using human rights as an instrument to pressure other countries, and said the situation in Palestine reveals the western states' lies about human rights advocacy.

"Today, the western states use human rights merely as a tool to exert pressure and have even imposed many sanctions against numerous countries, including Iran, using this pretext," Amoli Larijani said, addressing a conference in Tehran on Sunday.

He underlined that the westerners are not allowed to promote and impose their human rights views on the world, "this is unacceptable".

Amoli Larijani referred to the situation in Palestine as a major test to verify the West's claims of supporting human rights, and said, "The westerners should be asked what they have done to support the oppressed Palestinian people's human rights?"

In relevant remarks in September, Amoli Larijani in a meeting with Austrian President Heinz Fischer lambasted the western states' double-standard and insincere approach towards human rights.

"We dont expect the West to impose its assumptions on human rights and human dignity to all societies," Amoli Larijani said.

Stressing that showing sincerity in action is highly important in human rights issues, he said, "What we see of the West's human rights behavior shows that they are not so much sincere and we see that despite all their emphases on the concept of human rights in the West, they had Guantanamo prison in the US and Abu Ghraib jail in Iraq and the worst crimes happened in them."

"Unfortunately, the worst actions in violation of human rights are carried out in certain countries against people but these countries have good relations with the West and their actions against humans are not condemned by the westerners," Amoli Larijani said.

Also, in August, Iran's Judiciary Chief blasted the western countries for presenting their own sets of values as the yardstick for assessing human rights situation in other world states.

"Based on what logic and rationale, the westerners impose their compiled (sets of) human rights (values) on the entire world and if these other nations defy, they will be rebuked and sanctioned," Amoli Larijani said, addressing high-ranking judiciary officials in a weekly meeting in Tehran.

He questioned the West's criteria and double-standard approach on human rights, and said the so-called western advocates of human rights had killed thousands of people in different countries in recent years, including Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan.

Amoli Larijani referred to the western states' criticism of Iran's human rights situation during the last 35 years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution despite regular elections in Iran in the last 35 years, and said this was while certain regional states, including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain where there had not been even a single election held, werent criticized for their actions and violation of human rights.

Iran says the United State and other western states' record of human rights violations disqualifies them of being a human rights advocate elsewhere in the world.

In late 2012, the Iranian foreign ministry rapped Washington for its dark human rights record, and urged the UN officials to suspend the United States' membership in the world body's Human Rights Council.

"It is obvious that the US administration with its negative record of human rights and its actions in violation of the criteria and standards of the UN human rights conventions and treaties is not qualified to be a member of the Human Rights Council which is the most important international human rights mechanism," former Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said as the US had applied for membership in the UN Human Rights Council.

The US has been staunchly criticizing human rights conditions in other countries, while it itself has been widely blamed for trampling upon minority rights.

In November, 2010, the Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a report on the violation of human rights by the US inside and outside its borders, and urged Washington to sign the international conventions which prohibit such crimes.

It was stressed in the Foreign Ministry report that the United States, as a self-proclaimed standard bearer of defense for human rights in the world, has despite the international community and the UN demand, and even despite President Barack Obama's promise, still not shut down the Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib horrendous prisons.

It is stressed in the report that the United States has not yet joined the most important convention related to the economic, social and cultural rights that is among the most important human rights documents.

The Children's Rights Committee of the United Nations, too, has announced that the United States has been one of the greatest producers and distributors of the world child pornography products, while it is now one of the only two countries in the world that have not yet joined the International Children's Rights Convention.

On January 27, 2014, Irans Basij (Volunteer) Force released a comprehensive report on the violation of human rights by the US inside the country and abroad.

The report was unveiled in a ceremony participated by Commander of Iran's Basij Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, Parliament's First Vice-Speaker Hassan Aboutorabi Fard, Iranian judiciary chief and a number of Judiciary officials and experts.

The report referred to different cases of violation of human rights by the US, including the executions, arbitrary detentions, torture of inmates, violation of peoples privacy, violation of the rights of the minorities, Muslims and native Americans, racism and US President Barack Obamas opposition to the freedom of expression.
