Report on legal review of Iran frozen assets submitted to SNSC

Tehran, May 9, IRNA Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari said the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has received a report on the performance of the taskforce assigned by President Hassan Rouhani to work on Iranian frozen assets by the US.

The official made the remarks while talking to reporters at his weekly press briefing on Monday.

President Hassan Rouhani has already reviewed the report and the result has been presented to the SNSC, he added.

The SNSC will have a session on the issue on Monday and then announce results of the taskforce efforts in following up the US seizure of Iran's assets which values 2 billion dollars, said Jaberi Ansari.

Iran is seeking practical results out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), stressed the spokesman.

Commenting on a meeting held in New York between Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his American counterpart John Kerry on the issue of banking interaction, he said the two held two rounds of talks that mainly focused on the latest situation of implementation of the JCPOA .

Those talks on JCPOA implementation were definitely concentrated on issues related to Iran's banking and financial activities, he added.

Review of political atmosphere, exertion of pressure and measures taken by the US and Western countries are on Foreign Ministry's agenda, he said.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry is making efforts to remove the obstacles as soon as possible, and prepare the ground for making use of practical outcomes of the JCPOA, he stressed.

Although it is a long way, Iran has got its foot in the door, he stressed.

The Iranian government on behalf of the nation will seek and serve the country's interests, he noted.
