Irans nuclear chief, IAEAs Amano meet in Vienna
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Yukiya Amano on Thursday held talks on the implementation process of a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

At the meeting in the Austrian capital of Vienna, Salehi and Amano reviewed issues pertaining to the implementation of the nuclear agreement, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Salehi thanked the IAEA chief for inviting him to exchange views on the process of the JCPOA implementation, and said, Things have been going on I think very well and we will have to really stick to what is exactly written in the JCPOA and not leave it to any interpretation.

Amano, for his part, said it is important to hold regular meetings to ensure good monitoring and verification of nuclear-related commitments under the JCPOA.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the United States, France, Britain, and Germany) started implementing the JCPOA on January 16.

The nuclear agreement had been signed on July 14, 2015 following two and a half years of intensive talks.

After the JCPOA went into effect, all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran by the European Union, the Security Council and the US were lifted. Iran, in return, has put some limitations on its nuclear activities.

The IAEA is responsible for monitoring Irans nuclear activities as per the nuclear deal and should also help the country develop its nuclear energy program.
