Tehran, April 29, IRNA – Results of Majlis run-off elections will be released early Saturday, Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, Rahmani Fazli said the election results will be declared at 8 o’clock in the morning early Saturday if election ends at 7 o’clock on Friday evening.
The scheduled time for casting votes is from 8 o’clock in the morning till 6 o’clock in the evening and it can be extended for an hour till 7 PM if needed.
In the meantime, Deputy Governor General of Tehran Province Seyyed Shahabeddin Chavoshi told IRNA on Friday that the early results of elections in three Tehran constituencies could be released late on Friday at 12 AM.
Iranians cast votes in parliamentary run-off elections held across the country on Friday.
According to the elections headquarters, 136 nominees are running for 68 seats in Iran’s 290-seat parliament.
The candidates are competing to secure seats for 55 constituencies in which no candidate achieved a clear majority during the February’s general elections.
About 17 million voters are eligible to go to the ballot boxes for the run-off elections across the country.
There will be no run-off vote in the capital, Tehran, as the candidates close to the President Hassan Rouhani gained all the 30 seats in February.
