Early settlement to the Syrian conflict is a common goal of the international community, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Thursday.





BEIJING (Sputnik)�� Syria has been mired in proxy war since�2011, with�government forces loyal to�Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups,


"The Syrian problem. A common goal of�the international community is to�resolve the current situation [in the country] as�soon as�possible," Xi said at�the Conference on�Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in�Asia (CICA).

The international community, including Russia, the United States and key European and Middle Eastern states, is undertaking steps to�end the Syrian conflict and put an end to�the violence.

The CICA is an international forum aimed at�promoting peace, stability and cooperation in�Asia, according to�the organization's website. The organization has 26 member states, including China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran among�others.
