Iranian firms ready to undertake projects in Macedonia: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the technological capabilities of Iranian companies, voicing the countrys readiness to get involved in engineering projects in the Republic of Macedonia.

Iranian companies have made remarkable progress in engineering, gaining technical expertise in constructing roads, dams and power plants, President Rouhani said Monday at a meeting with Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki in Tehran.

The president noted that Iranians are capable of competing with other foreign companies and undertake projects in Macedonia with high quality.

He also noted that closer interaction between the private sectors of the two countries will usher in new conditions for promotion of Tehran-Skopje relations.

For his part, the visiting Macedonian diplomat voiced his countrys determination to deepen ties with Iran in all fields.

Poposki added that Macedonia also known as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is going to open an embassy in Tehran soon.

He also referred to the presence of a big delegation of Macedonian business people in Tehran as a sign of Skopjes resolve to promote cooperation with the Islamic Republic.

The visit comes against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after the country and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive deal on Tehrans nuclear program and implemented the agreement on January 16.

The nuclear deal terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.
