Zarif, Kerry hold second meeting in a week
Tehran, April 23, IRNA- Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and his American counterpart John Kerry held their second meeting in a week in New York on April 22.

Zarif left for New York on April 18 to attend the signing ceremony of documents on climate change based on Paris Agreement and UN General Assembly special meeting of High-Level Thematic Debate on Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Speaking before visiting his counterpart, Iranian Foreign Minister said, 'What is important for everybody to understand is that the JCPOA was a balanced agreement, and Iran has implemented its part of the bargain and we hope that with this statement by Secretary Kerry and other steps that were taken by the United State, now we will see serious implementation of all JCPOA benefits that Iran should derive from this agreement.'

He added that agreement is a way for addressing international problems, that sanctions and pressure wont resolve international problems, but negotiations, talks, dialogue in fact are the way to address international problems.

On the major differences between Iran and the U.S., he reiterated that, 'Our differences are very serious in a good number of areas but we have decided together with P5+1 to address this issue, and we want to show that P5+1 and Iran have been able to resolve a very serious, difficult issue through negotiations, and I believe we should take the necessary steps in that regard.'

Secretary of State John Kerry also said that, 'We have no objection and we do not stand in the way of foreign banks engaging with Iranian banks and companies.'

Kerry emphasized on the fact that U.S. has lifted nuclear-related sanctions, as U.S. committed to do, and there are now opportunities for foreign banks to do business with Iran.

Referring to the existence of some confusion among some foreign banks, he said that 'We try to clarify that as much as we can.'
He added that among the nuclear-related sanctions that were lifted were those that prevented Iran from engaging with non-U.S. banks, including getting access to Irans restricted funds that were previously held overseas.
