Ankara, April 14, IRNA � The 13th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) started in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Thursday.


Iran's President Hassan Rouhani is attending the annual event.

As the host of the Islamic summit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally welcomed all the 30 heads of the Islamic states which are present in Istanbul for the occasion.

President Rouhani is scheduled to address the Summit.

During 2-day meeting, Rouhani will have bilateral meetings with a number of his counterparts on the sideline of the meeting.

The OIC foreign ministers held meeting prior to the Summit in presence of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

President Rouhani arrived in Istanbul Wednesday night.

He said that Muslims of the world expect the Summit of Leaders in Istanbul to echo the voice of unity, solidarity and cooperation of the Muslim World.
