Telegram cooperation on filtering unethical channels satisfactory: Minister

Tehran, April 12, IRNA The Telegram social network has made satisfactory cooperation with Iran in filtering unethical channels, says Iran's minister of Communications and Information Technology.

There are a large number of unethical channels on Telegram and we are unaware of their exact number, said Mahmoud Vaezi on the sidelines of a conference on information and communications technology (ICT) and the economy of resistance on Tuesday.

Vaezi said that a list of inappropriate channels on the social network has been prepared and emailed for the Telegram managers.

'The Telegram is going to inform us within 24 hours about the elimination of these channels,' he said.

Iranian officials at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology last year warned the social networks to bar them if they fail to respect Iran's domestic regulations and do not eliminate inappropriate contents, the minister said.

'Based on coordination with the Telegram officials, all the inappropriate contents are going to be deleted by the social network,' he said.
